Behavior Modification

Behavior Modification Techniques

Behavior modification techniques are used to develop and improve new behaviors and skills. Unwanted behavior can develop as a way to meet certain needs, such as communication, as a way to get attention and feel connected, to regulate emotions or to get input in the sensory system.

It is important to recognize these needs and to understand why the unwanted behavior is used to meet them. These needs can be met in alternative ways. By using reinforcement new behaviors can be developed.
