Siblingsprogram

Siblingsprogram
The CDTC offers a special program for the siblings or children of the therapy patient. The relationship between these family members is often unique. The program is supervised by a coordinator and a therapy assistant. Children will be encouraged to talk openly about themselves and how it feels to be a sibling of someone with a disability. A variety of topics are covered and talked about with the use of workbooks, games, DVDs, etc to make it interesting. There is time to play, relax, swim, snorkel, kayak and in the sea aquarium they learn more about everything that lives in the ocean. Because we never want the siblings to feel left out, there is also a special "dock day" where siblings can watch their sister or brother’s therapy from the sidelines; they sit next to the dolphin trainer and see for themselves how much progress their sibling has made. To make their experience just as magical, there is also a "dolphin trainer session", where the siblings accompany a dolphin trainer and get to be the assistant for one session. In this way they learn about the life of a dolphin trainer.
* The times of the program depend on the number of siblings in the period. It is possible that the times do not coincide with the therapy session of the patient.
* The program is available for siblings with ages from 5 to 16 years old.
